Located at the height of around 10,100 ft on the rugged terrain of the lower Himalayas in east sikkim, Zuluk or Dzuluk is a small village beside a winding road. It was once a transit point to the historic silk  Route from Tibet to India . it is relatively an emerging and offbeat destination in east sikkim. This small village accommodates a population of around 700 people.There  is also an Indian army base camp at zuluk, which has been used as a transit camp for the army movement to the Chinese border, a few kilometers away. it is the very first village within this whole silk route to offer home stay facilities  for tourists. zuluk itself doesn't offer views of the snow peaks but only 14 kms away the thambi view point offers panoramic view of the entire Mt. Kanchenjunga range.

      Best time to visit:

  • Aug - sep : Drenched with riot of wild flowers.
  • Jan  - Apr :covered with snow.
  • May to July : usually foggy, but rest of the year it has nice sparkling weather

History of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway The   Darjeeling Himalayan Railway   (DHR), nicknamed the "Toy Train", is a   2 ft   ( 610 mm )   narrow-gauge   railway from   Siliguri   to Darjeeling   connecting two districts, Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling, in the   Indian   state   of   West Bengal , run by the   Indian Railways . The DHR is the very first hill railway in India, and one of the first ones in the world (the   Semmering Railway , constructed between 1848 and 1854, was the first).
